Jan Vojtek was born in Brno in 1995. He inherited his musical talent of his mother who also significantly influenced Jan’s development and initial success. Piano became fateful to Jan as soon as he first sat at the instrument in his age of five. His marked talent and sense of music was also recognized by Mrs. Jana Nováková, teacher of the František Jílek Basic School of Arts in Brno. Under her leadership Jan became the three-time winner of the Amadeus international contest in Brno /between 2002 and 2004/, absolute winner of the Prague Junior Note /2003/, as well as the absolute winner and holder of the Gradus ad Parnassum Grand Prix in Kaunas, Lithuania /2004/.

In 2005 Jan changed for Mr. Jiří Doležel, Professor at the Janáček Academy of Music Arts in Brno. In the course of a four-year grind and self-denial he obtained a number of chances to compare his abilities with foreign competitors. He again took part in the international Amadeus contest /2005/, became the winner of the international contest in Košice, Slovakia /2007/. He also carried the victory from the Czech Ústí nad Labem where he beat competitors in the 2007 international Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte contest. A great experience became for him the participation in the 2008 international Gina Bachauer contest in Salt Lake City, USA. Apart from valuable musical knowledge, he brought home numerous new friendships.

In the course of his studies supervised by Professor Doležel, Jan had the great opportunity to perform with the Brno Philharmonic, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, as well as with the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra in Lithuania. An unforgettable experience was the “Mozartian Tour” around Japan, in which he took part together with the orchestra of the Brno Moravian National Theatre.

Due to his father’s nationality, Jan’s Hungarian roots became an advantage for his study in the Béla Bartók Secondary music and grammar school in Budapest, Hungary. Since 2009 he has been studying here, under the tutorship of Professors Gábor Eckhardt and Balázs Kecskés. In 2011 Jan again visited Lithuania and reached the absolute triumph in the Kaunas Sonorum international contest. In the same year he succeeded in becoming the absolute winner in the Hungarian national contest of secondary music schools.

In 2012 Jan reached the absolute triumph in Prague Tallent competition, and visited the Tel-Hai International Piano Master-classes in Israel for the first time, where he won the Marina Bondarenko price for the best students of the master-class. He visited Israel one more time in 2013.

Since 2014, Jan gave concerts with Brno Philharmonic and Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, performing Scriabin´s concerto, Liszt´s Todtentanz or Rachmaninoff´s Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini. For two years he also played as the resident soloist of Sokol Brno I Symphonic orchestra. In the 2017/18 season, Jan became a laureate of the L´Europe du Piano project. During this season, he gives concerts in Japan, France, Portugal, Hungary and Canada. Recently as one of the finalists of the Euregio Piano Award international Piano competition, he received a special prize for his performance of Janáček´s Sonata 1.X. 1905.

Jan is currently in the 3rd year of his bachelor studies with Prof. Attila Némethy at the Liszt Academy of Music, where he also studied with Prof. Gábor Eckhardt and Prof. Gábor Farkas.
