Kristina Vocetkova

Kristina Vocetkova started playing the cello at the age of 6 in the class of Prof. Katerina Hronikova. Under her guidance Kristina won her first competition two years later. At the age of 14 she was admitted to the Prague Conservatory to the class of Prof. Jaroslav Kulhan. Under his guidance Kristina has been admitted to Juilliard School of New York as well as Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest. Currently she is the student of Professor Csaba Onczay at the Liszt Ferenc Academy.

During her studies Kristina has participated in more than 20 national and international competitions where she won mostly first prizes and laureate titles. These include Prague Junior Note (2003), Violoncello festival Augustin Prochazka in Slovakia (2004), Young Talents Competition in Italy (2007, 2009, 2010), Talents for Europe in Slovakia (2008, 2012), Heran’s international cello competiton (2009), Rudolf Matz competition in Dubrovnik (2010), Sforzando competition in Berlin (2011), International Cello Competition in Liezen (2012) VIII Concorso musicale citta di Filadelfia ‘Paolo Serrao’ (2016), competition held by the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation (2017) in Prague, Czech Republic and most recently International Anton Rubinstein competition in Berlin, Germany (2018).

In 2009 Kristina participated in international master class for conductors where she cooperated with selected young international conductors. In 2010 Kristina was awarded Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship.

Kristina founded a string duo with violin player Matouš Pěruška. In the summer 2015 they were awarded Zoltán Kodály prize and half year later they became absolute winners of the Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf chamber music competition. In summer 2016 they became first prize winners of Concorso musicale citta di Filadelfia ‘Paolo Serrao’ (Italy) and two months later they were awarded Bohuslav Martinů prize. They received prize for the best interpretation of the work by Czech contemporary composer in 2017. They perform as a duo as well as a part of various chamber music groups in Bohemia and abroad.

During her studies Kristina participated in master classes of professors R. Leonard, R. Wallfish, H. Litschauer, J. Pernoo, D. Geringas, C. Bohórquez, R. Aaron and others. Apart of chamber and orchestral play Kristina has also been performing as a soloist. She played with multiple Czech orchestras (Barocco sempre giovane, Suk’s Chamber Orchestra, Pavel Haas Chamber Orchestra, North Bohemian Philharmonic and others) and collaborated with outstanding Czech pianists e.g. Ivo Kahánek or prof. Ivan Klánský. Kristina performed in Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Croatia, Germany, France and U.S.A.
