Sergey Kuznetsov was born in 1978 to a musicians’ family. He received his first lesson at the age of four, and until 1996, had studied music atMoscow Gnessin School of Music, in Valentina Aristova’s class. From 1996 and until 2001, Sergey Kuznetsov had been a student in Moscow Conservatory at Prof. Mikhail Voskressensky’sclass, graduating from it with distinction. In 2001-2005, Sergey took postgraduate courses in Vienna University of Music at Oleg Maisenberg’s class and, in 2003-2005, the Moscow Conservatory postgraduate courses with Mikhail Voskressensky.

In 1999, Sergey received the First Prize at the A.M.A. Calabria International Competition (Italy). in 2000, he became a laureate of Alicia de Larrocha Competition in Andorra. In 2003, Sergey Kuznetsov won the Second Prize at the 9th Concours Geza Anda in Zurich, playing in the final round the Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.3 accompanied by the Zurich TonhalleOrchestra. This performance also brought him the Audience Prize and an engagement to perform at Lucerne Festival. In 2005, Sergey was awarded the Second Prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition after performing in the final round with the famous Cleveland Orchestra in the Severance Hall in Cleveland. In 2006, Sergey Kuznetsov won the Second Prize at Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan.

Sergey Kuznetsov has been giving acclaimed performances in Russia, Spain, the UK, Belorussia, the Ukraine, Moldavia, Brazil, France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Germany, Austria, Serbia, Turkey, Czech Republic, USA (Zankel (Carnegie) Hall, among others), Japan, Cyprus and in the Netherlands.

He works with such musiciansas the Shostakovich String Quartet, Ysaÿe String Quartet, Cavani String Quartet, Moscow Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic, Winterthur Orchestra, Moscow Philarmonic, Ural Symphony, Berlin and Munich Symphony Orchestras and such conductors as Janos Fürst, Misha Damev, Maxim Vengerov, Nikolay Alexeev, Dmitry Liss, Theodor Guschlbauer, Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach, Jahja Ling, Gustav Mak, Georg Schmöhe, Gintaras Rinkevičius and Walter Weller. The pianist cooperates with prominent artistic agencies such as KD Schmid Hanover, Gosconcert, Pro Arte Frankfurt and participates in numerous international music festivals such as those in Kyoto and Yokohama (Japan), Cyprus, Merano (Italy), Z ürich and Lucerne Festivals, Ernen Musikfestspiele, Bodensee Festival, Irina Arkhipova Festival, Musical Olympus (Russia) and LockenhausFestival (Austria).

Sergey’s performances have been broadcast on German-language Swiss Radio (DRS2), French-language Swiss Radio (RSR Espace2), Radio France, Czech Music Radio, WCLV, WQXR (USA) and Orpheus Radio Russia, Serbian Radio and TV and Mezzo TV. At present, two solo CD’s by Sergey have been issued with works by Brahms, Liszt, Schumann and Scriabin, and a duo CD under Pan Classics label (Switzerland) with Ryoko Yano (violin).

Since 2006, Sergey Kuznetsov has been teaching at the Moscow Conservatory. In 2015, Sergey officialy debuted with a solo recital to rave reviews at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
